One of the intensity of Windows Vista is able to perform file and folder encryption. By creating an encryption, the file or folder can not be accessed by other users who do not have the right to access a file or folder. With such a file or folder you be safe.
To do the encryption is easy, do the following steps:
- Open your Windows Explorer and then open your folder or search your file that you will encryption
- Right click at folder or file that you want encryption, and than select [Properties]
- Click [Advanced] button on tab [General]
- Say the word cheque at [Encrypt content to secure data]
- Click [Ok] and then click [Ok] again. Your folder or file will turn into green designating that file or folder have encryption.
Weaknesses:
If you make a folder encryption and you enter some of the files in the folder, the files are automatically encrypted itself. However, if you exclude the file from the folder, the file will decrypted.
Advantages:
If you do the encryption on a file, the encryption will still be valid even if you move it to another folder or wherever you move the file will remain encrypted.
